Final exam 2

Global Science Final Exam
Question 8

You can use the distribution of earthquakes and volcanoes to find where our earth’s plate boundaries are. Earthquakes help us because earthquakes are a consequence of our plate tectonics moving. Because of that earth quakes would most likely happen close to the plate’s boundaries or fault lines. Earthquakes happen when two plates collide into one another that’s also how mountains are formed. Volcanoes can also show where the earth’s plate boundaries are. Volcanoes are also found near the boundaries of the different plates because volcanoes happen when two plates separate away from one another. So where volcanoes are is where two plates have been separated. Earth quakes and volcanoes are measured with seismographs. Basically the scale is supposed to be a 0-10, but there was a movie that came out called 10.5 that can show you the destruction of earthquakes and how the measurements of them are important.
The chemical composition of magma of magma relates to plate tectonics because when the plates separate from each other it exposes the layer of the earth that holds the magma deep within so if the two plates would never separate you would never see the magma or a volcano. A volcano is circular because when the plates separate it exposes the magma and then it hardens ad makes the volcano structure that you see of the earth like in Hawaii. A volcano is made of a molten rock from the earth formed by the two plate tectonics. Volcanoes become explosive when the plates move again it’s all about the heat within the earth that also drives the place to move because heat is energy. Volcanoes vary a lot in size and explosiveness. It all relates to their plate tectonic environment.
Volcanoes change the atmosphere because when they erupt they are putting all the smoke into the air and that is a form of pollution. The smoke volcanoes cause and also kill because it can get into your lungs and prevent you from breathing but it can also be killed by the ash. There is a place you can go where a city was covered in ash and because it was still hot it molted to their body and because they got so much of it they were turned to stone. It can pollute the water and everything else too.
